Some Key Information about Year 5

We have an exciting residential trip to look forward to in Year 5 Aylmerton Field Study Centre. Photographs will be uploaded upon our return!

Spelling: The children will all have an exciting spelling session on a daily basis following the Read Write Inc. Spelling programme.

Book Talk: Along with other reading activities, the children will take part in regular ’Book Talk’ sessions led by their class teacher. Within these lessons the children will focus on particular reading lenses from the ‘Reading Rainbow’. Within these sessions the children will build upon their vocabulary list and develop their comprehension skills.

PE lessons: will take place on a Wednesday. We would appreciate it if all children could bring a full, named PE kit/cold weather kit.  Please can long hair be tied back and earrings removed on this day.

Music: will take place every Tuesday with Ms Wickham (Music Teacher) where the children will learn exciting new songs, play different instruments and begin to read music.

Art: Art will take place on a Wednesday with Mrs Fulford (Art Teacher). In these lessons they will learn about different artists, various styles of art and use a range of art techniques. Please ensure your child has an Art apron in school to wear in these lessons.

Year 5 are taught by Miss Borton (Class teacher) and Mrs Anderson (Teaching Assistant).

Please follow our exciting learning journey throughout the year on ClassDojo.
